About us
Why we run a rescue without a kennel.
Foster Army Animal Rescue pulls shelter dogs and cats most at risk of euthanasia, seniors, underaged pets, the injured, the sick, the special-needs animals nobody else is stepping up for. Every animal we take in is placed in a foster home, not a kennel, until the right adopter is found. Since 2016, one hundred percent of our intakes have been fostered.
We operate from Riverside, California and cover a wide stretch of Southern California shelter partners. Our volunteers drive to impound shelters most weekends to pull pets who have timed out. The thrift store on Magnolia Avenue keeps the lights on and funds medical care for the hardest cases.
We believe a foster home, even for a few weeks, tells you more about a pet than any cage card can. Fosters report personality, behavior with kids, reactions to other animals, and medical patterns in real time. That information becomes a profile for the right adopter.
We are run by a small staff, a committed board, and hundreds of volunteers. We do not charge fosters for food or vet care. We do not ask adopters for donations on top of adoption fees. What you see in our paperwork is what you pay.
Leadership and governance
We are governed by a five-member volunteer board that meets quarterly. Day-to-day operations are led by a small paid staff. Full bios and our annual Form 990 are available on request.
Financial transparency
Our most recent audit is available upon request at [email protected]. Over 91% of expenses fund direct animal care. Administrative costs run under 6%; fundraising under 3%.
